Green Ways to Clean Coffee Pots!
January 14th, 2010Here’s a couple methods on how to keep your coffee pot clean while staying green:
1) Vinegar Method - Use a ratio of 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water and place in the reservoir of your coffee maker. Start the brew cycle with no coffee grounds or filter. Let stand for 10 minutes and empty. Run your coffee maker twice more with clean water to remove vinegar solution from the reservoir.
2) Salt Method – Make sure your coffee pot is at room temperature and dry. Begin by adding enough salt to cover the bottom of your coffee maker. Then add a few ice cubes (3 should be plenty). Swirl ice cubes around coffee pot until they melt. The salt should act as an abrasive removing all coffee stains. Rinse and repeat if necessary. Add lemon wedges for a more powerful method.
These two methods are easy on your wallet and easy on the environment. Keeping a clean coffee pot is essential to having a great tasting cup of coffee.
Clean your coffee pot at least once a week.
